Kerrville, Texas – The Centenary softball team split a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Saturday, dropping game one 11-5 but rebounded with a 9-0 victory in five innings at Mountaineer Softball Field.

The Ladies (15-20, 10-7 SCAC) had their season-high seven game winning streak snapped in the first game but have still won eight of their last nine overall and will go for their third-straight series win on Sunday at Noon against the Mountaineers (15-19, 8-9 SCAC). Centenary is now 6-5 on the road this season.

Centenary's 10 conference wins marks its most since going 12-10 in the 2019 season. The conference played a 24-game schedule (prior to St. Thomas's arrival in 2021) and the Ladies had two rainouts that season against Texas Lutheran. The Ladies also went 12-12 in 2017 as 12 is the most conference games that the Maroon and White have won in a single season in the division III era (2012-present).

The Ladies can set a D3-era single-season record for conference wins with three wins in their final four games. Following Sunday's finale with Schreiner, the Ladies will finish the regular season at home next weekend with a three-game series against Southwestern. The Pirates (19-18, 12-6 SCAC) swept Austin College this weekend on the road and have won six in a row. Southwestern is third in the conference standings with Centenary just behind them in fourth. The 2023 SCAC Softball Championship is set for May 5-7 in San Antonio with Trinity serving as the host. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the event.
