Shreveport – The Centenary softball team extended its season-high winning streak to five with a 7-2 victory over the Austin College 'Roos in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (12-19, 7-6 SCAC) and 'Roos (7-21, 3-10 SCAC) will conclude the series on Sunday with a doubleheader at Noon and 2 p.m. The potential for inclement weather on Saturday forced a change in the weekend schedule as the series opener was originally scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. but the decision was made to play it on Friday instead.

Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) pitched her team-high ninth complete game of the season as she picked up the win to move to 7-8. The Ladies finished with 10 hits and the highlight of the night was a three-run home run by junior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) with two outs in the first inning to give the Ladies an early 3-0 lead.

Scarbrock held the 'Roos to just three hits and two runs, one earned, with two walks and six strikeouts in her seven innings of work. She faced 28 batters, hitting one, and did not allow a hit until C Lyndsey Busch doubled with two outs in the fourth. She allowed a leadoff single to 1B Kaitlyn Barrett in the fifth and an RBI double by 2B Chrysi Hemby later in the inning and that was it. She struck out two of the final three batters she faced in the seventh and got SS Elizabeth Preston to fly out to center to end the game.

Austin College left five on base, committed two errors, drew just two walks, and struck out six times. Centenary left five on, did not walk or strike out, and committed two errors. The Ladies tallied 10+ hits for the 12th time this season and have done so in five-straight games. The Ladies lead the all-time series with the 'Roos, 19-11 and have now won 14 of 19 meetings between the two in Shreveport.

Dominguez finished 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored as she homered for the second weekend in a row after going deep last Saturday at Dallas. Senior LF Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) also had two hits as she finished 2-4 with an RBI double and a run scored. Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) was 2-4 with an RBI single and a run scored, and sophomore SS Brooke Sandefur (Denham Springs, La.) was 2-3 with a run scored.

Senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) had a late RBI single and finished 1-3 with a run scored and sophomore 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) went 1-3 with a run scored. Junior DP Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) stole her team-high 18th base of the season.

Hailie Swiatkowski (2-4) started and took the loss for the 'Roos as she allowed four runs, all earned, on six hits in five innings of work with no walks, no K's, and the homer to Dominguez. AD Smith came on in relief and pitched an inning and allowed three unearned runs on four hits.

The Ladies are aiming for their longest winning streak in four seasons on Sunday. Their current five-game streak is the longest since winning eight games in a row from March 16-24, 2019.
