Bossier City - The Centenary women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in its season opener on Thursday at Freedom Fields.

The game ended just after midnight in what was one of the strangest 12-hour periods of time in recent memory for the Ladies. The teams were originally scheduled to play in Marshall, Texas on the ETBU campus, but due to unplayable conditions there cause by recent rain the game was moved to Mayo Field on the Centenary campus and scheduled for a 9 p.m. start. Facing the likelihood of the match starting even later than 9 due to the Centenary men's soccer match preceding it, the decision was made to move to a nearby turf facility and thus Freedom Fields was chosen and the match started at 10:15 p.m.

The Ladies (0-1) will now have to rebound quickly as they face St. Thomas University (1-0) on Saturday at 5 p.m. in a home match. The Celts opened their season on Thursday with a 2-1 win at Howard Payne. ETBU scored a goal in each half on Thursday, scoring its first goal with just less than five minutes remaining before halftime as freshman MF Bryanne Izaguirre found the net off the assist from Kayla Nichols. Senior Amy Pineda scored with just over six minutes remaining in the contest to extend the Tigers' lead.
