Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision on Sunday afternoon to the Southwestern University Pirates in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Varsity Field.

The Ladies, who lost 4-2 at Texas Lutheran on Friday night, are now 2-13-1 overall and 2-8 in conference play while the Pirates improved to 7-4-4 overall and 7-2-1 in the SCAC. Southwestern improved to 5-1-3 on their home field this season and recorded a series sweep over the Ladies following a 2-0 win in Shreveport on Oct. 2.

Senior MF/D Gabby McDonald (Pasadena, Texas) continued her hot offensive play of late as she scored the Ladies' lone goal on Sunday and found the net for the fourth-straight match. McDonald now has a team-high four goals this season and 13 in her career as she is now tied for fourth all-time in the division III era (2011-present) in program history.

The Pirates' Juliet Pridgen scored the first Southwestern goal of the game in the eighth minute off an assist from Samantha Hazen, and then five minutes later Julian Chapa made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal. McDonald cut the lead in half at the 26:32 mark, but three minutes later Hazen and Pridgen teamed up again, this time Hazen found the net for a 3-1 lead. Laren Gradt added a late unassisted goal in the 71st minute for the Pirates.

Southwestern finished with a 15-4 advantage in shots, with nine coming on goal. The Pirates took six corner kicks to the Ladies' one, and just six fouls were whistled, four on the Ladies and two on the Pirates. Two yellow cards were issued in the match – one on each team.

Sophomore GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) played all 90 minutes and made five saves while Johnna Campbell also went the distance for the Pirates and made a pair of saves. Six Ladies played all 90 minutes while three Pirates did so.

Centenary is back home next weekend for its final two home conference matches of the season as the Ladies face Schreiner University on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. and then meet Trinity University on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m. on Senior Day.
