The Ladies fell to 0-4 this season with their 4-1 loss at home on Sunday to the Howard Payne University Lady Jackets in non-conference. Centenary also lost 3-1 to the Sul Ross State University Lobos on Friday evening at home. Belhaven enters Tuesday's match at 2-1-1 overall and recorded a 4-0 home win over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday.

Howard Payne took a quick 1-0 lead in the match on Sunday as Hannah Noel scored an unassisted goal just six minutes in, and that score held at halftime. The first half was statistically quiet for both teams as the Lady Jackets took only four shots to just one for the Ladies and Centenary took just a single corner kick while the visitors did not attempt one.

Brenna Douthit extended the Lady Jackets' lead with a goal in the 52nd minute to make it 2-0. That two-goal advantage remained for another 20 minutes until Ladies' senior F Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) cut the deficit in half with an unassisted goal, her first of the season and eighth of her career. Howard Payne, however, immediately responded as Meagan Miller found the net for an unassisted goal just four minutes later to make it a 3-1 game. Noel scored again in the 87th minute to make it 4-1 off of an assist from Douthit.

Bascomb now has eight goals and nine assists in her stellar career and needs just one more assist to become the all-time leader in the division III era (2011-present) in the category. She is tied for sixth in the conference in assists.

Centenary sophomore GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) suffered the loss as she allowed all four goals in her 90 minutes of action and recorded three saves. Howard Payne finished with a 14-6 advantage in shots while each team took one corner kick. Each team was whistled for just seven fouls and no cards were issues. Ersoff is currently tied for sixth in the conference in saves with 10 while her teammate and fellow keeper, junior Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant, La.) is tied for fourth with 12.

Centenary returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend as the Maroon and White travel to Houston for a rematch with the University of St. Thomas Celts on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
