The Gents (0-3) dropped their home opener to the Southwestern University Pirates, 19-2, on Sunday afternoon in a battle of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foes at Mayo Field.
Centenary scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter, the first by freshman Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) and the second by sophomore Dario Garcia (Dallas, Texas), who recorded his first-career goal.
The Warriors (1-1) fell 19-6 to Southwestern in their season opener on Feb. 6 and then defeated Huntongdon, 12-5, on Feb. 27.
Gents' Senior Goalie Thomas Siskron (Shreveport) played all 60 minutes against the Pirates and tallied a season-high 24 saves. Siskron now has 171 career saves and entered Sunday's game ranked second in the nation in saves per game and the leader in the SCAC in that category. He is ranked fifth in both save percentage and goals against average in the conference and first in save percentage.
Sophomore Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) matched his career high for goals scored in a single game with four versus Averett on Feb. 15. Temple took 13 total shots, six on goal, and had two ground balls. Temple is tied for sixth in the conference in goals per game and ninth in points per game.
The Gents are back home on Sunday, March 7 versus the Dallas Crusaders in a SCAC match set for 1 p.m. as they will honor their two seniors; Siskron and Ahnry Avina (Dallas, Texas) in a postgame ceremony.
