Gents Lacrosse Faces Huntingdon on Road Friday Night

Montgomery, Ala. - The Centenary lacrosse team, fresh off of its first victory since reestablishing as a varsity program, will face the Huntingdon College Hawks on Friday in a non-conference match set for 7 p.m. at Charles Lee Field at Samford Stadium.

The Gents (1-4) posted a 7-4 comeback victory over Dallas in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Senior Day at Mayo Field last Sunday. The Hawks (0-3) will be playing at home for the first time this season after falling on the road to Hendrix 12-5 in their season opener on Feb. 27, then to Greensboro by a score of 20-6 on Sunday and 17-1 to Birmingham-Southern on Thursday.

Centenary scored its most goals in a game since scoring eight versus Hilbert on March 8, 2020. dominated statistically as the Gents held a decisive 56-13 advantage in shots. The Maroon and White collected 24 ground balls to 13 for Dallas. The Crusaders committed 30 turnovers while Centenary had just 14.

Dallas scored the game's first two goals to make it 2-0 then the Centenary offense kicked it into gear as the Gents scored the next seven goals to go up comfortably, 7-2, late in the fourth quarter before allowing two late Dallas scores once the game was already in hand.

Sophomore Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) had another great game on Sunday as he scored his  team-leading sixth and seventh goals of the season and tallied his first three assists. Freshman midfielder Jacob Miller (Liberty Hill, Texas) continued his superb freshman season with his second and third goals of the season and recorded his first-multi-goal game.

Freshman Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored for the third time on the season and recorded his first assist. Sophomore Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) found the net for the first this season and sophomore midfielder Dario Garcia (Dallas, Texas) s scored his second goal of the season.

Comi led the Gents with seven ground balls, Garcia had four, and Miller recorded three. Freshman midfielder Matt Lamoreaux (Bethesda, Md.) won 6 of 12 face offs and Cook, Lamoreaux, sophomore Chris Dant (Bossier City), and freshman Noah Katz (Las Vegas, Nev.) each had two ground balls. Sophomore Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas) had a game-high seven caused turnovers and freshman Matthew Lulich (New Orleans) had four. Cool, Comi, Dant, and Katz combined for nine CT's.

Little was named the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday as he helped lead a stingy Gents' defensive effort that allowed just two goals (both scored in the final three minutes of the game) over the final 45 minutes. Little had four ground balls and seven caused turnovers and now has 15 GB's and 10 CT's this season.

Centenary goalkeeper Thomas Siskron (Shreveport) played all 60 minutes and collected seven saves and now has 80 saves this season and an impressive 201 career saves. Siskron is second in the SCAC in saves per game (16.00) and is tied for 14th in the country in the category.

Centenary will face Hendrix in its final home game of the season on March 18 at 7 p.m.
