Jordan Cook Named 2021 SCAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Newcomer of the Year

Lawrenceville, Ga. - Centenary freshman midfielder Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) was named the 2021 SCAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Newcomer of the Year, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Friday.

Cook, who was also named Second-Team All-SCAC, had a fantastic rookie season as he scored a team-high 15 goals and added three assists (tied for third on team) for a total of 18 points (second on team). He ranked fifth in shots per game in the conference and took 72 total shots for the season with 37 shots on goal. Cook shared the honor with Colorado College freshman GK Ben Anastos.

Centenary, which made its postseason debut last month in the 2021 SCAC Championship in Colorado Springs, placed five players on the second team. 

The Gents swept the SCAC's weekly honors the week leading up to the SCAC Championship as Cook was named the Offensive Player of the Week while senior GK Thomas Siskron (Shreveport) was named the Defensive Player of the Week, as each earned the award for the for the first time in their careers.

Centenary finished its regular season with a flourish on April 24 as the Maroon and White scored a program record number of goals in an impressive 18-8 rout of the Dallas Crusaders on the road. Centenary completed a season sweep over Dallas after previously defeating the Crusaders at home, 7-4, on March 7. That win marked the first for the Gents since reestablishing as a varsity program.
