
Five Gents Named All-SCAC; Cook Named Co-Newcomer of the Year
Five Centenary Gents were named to the 2021 All-SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Team and the Maroon and White claimed one major award, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Friday.
Lawrenceville, Ga. – Five Centenary Gents were named to the 2021 All-SCAC Men's Lacrosse Team and the Maroon and White claimed one major award, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Friday.
Centenary, which made its postseason debut last month in the 2021 SCAC Championship in Colorado Springs, placed all five players on the second team highlighted by freshman midfielder Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) being named the 2021 SCAC Co-Newcomer of the Year.
Cook was joined on the second team by sophomore M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas), freshman D Matthew Lulich (New Orleans, La.), senior goalkeeper Thomas Siskron (Shreveport), and sophomore A Mark Temple (Houston, Texas).
Cook had a fantastic rookie season as he scored a team-high 15 goals and added three assists (tied for third on team) for a total of 18 points (second on team). He ranked fifth in shots per game in the conference and took 72 total shots for the season with 37 shots on goal. Cook shared the honor with Colorado College freshman GK Ben Anastos.
Comi had a superb sophomore season with a team-high 13 assists and added five goals and tied Cook for second on the Gents with 18 points. Comi had four games during the season with multiple assists including two games with three assists in each. He ranked seventh in the SCAC in assists per game. He made the all-conference squad as a Short Stick Specialist.
Lulich made a major impact in his freshman season as he started all 12 of the Gents' games and tallied 21 ground balls and had 13 caused turnovers.
Senior goalkeeper Thomas Siskron (Shreveport) played all 60 minutes of the SCAC Championship contest versus Southwestern last month and collected 17 saves. Siskron finished the season with an impressive 193 saves and 314 for his career. Siskron led the SCAC in saves and ranked second in the league in saves per game (16.08) and ranked 19th in the nation in division III in the category. His .447 save % also ranked 10th in the country.
Temple (Houston, Texas) was tied for second on the team with 13 goals and added six assists (second on team) for a team-high 19 points. He took 57 shots during the season with 29 on goal. Temple had four multi-goal games and scored four goals in a game twice. He was tied for fifth in the league in game-winning goals.
The Gents swept the SCAC's weekly honors the week leading up to the SCAC Championship as Cook was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Siskron was named the Defensive Player of the Week, as each earned the award for the for the first time in their careers.
Centenary finished its regular season with a flourish on April 24 as the Maroon and White scored a program record number of goals in an impressive 18-8 rout of the Dallas Crusaders on the road. Centenary completed a season sweep over Dallas after previously defeating the Crusaders at home, 7-4, on March 7. That win marked the first for the Gents since reestablishing as a varsity program.
