Gents Soccer Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Academic team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Nine Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's and women's soccer programs have been named to the 2019-2020 United Soccer Coaches All-Academic team. Complete Release from USC website

Southwestern and Texas Lutheran received honors for both programs, while Centenary, Colorado College, Dallas, Schreiner and Trinity were recognized on the men's side.

Colorado College's selection on the men's side marks the 14th consecutive year and 20th time overall the Tigers have been honored. Centenary received the award for the second consecutive year after posting a men's high 3.42 team GPA. Dallas earned the honor for the third-straight year and fifth time overall in program history. Schreiner earned the accolade for the first time since 2002, while Southwestern was recognized for the third consecutive year. Texas Lutheran earned the honor for the third time since 2016 and Trinity makes the list for the third-straight year and sixth time in program history.

On the women's side, Southwestern led the SCAC with a team GPA of 3.47. This year marks the third-straight for the Pirate women and a remarkable 18th time in program history. TLU has now earned the honor four consecutive years and seven times in program history.

A total of 889 college teams (333 men, 556 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 176 schools who had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year.
