Andres Bautista Named SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Centenary sophomore midfielder Andres Bautista has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 7th.
Lawrenceville, Ga. - Centenary sophomore midfielder Andres Bautista has been named the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 7th.
Bautista (Houston, Texas) scored the game-winning goal in the Gents' 1-0 home victory against Dallas on Sunday. The goal was Bautista's first of the season and the seventh of his young career as he scored in the 82nd minute to break the scoreless tie to help secure three important points in the conference standings. He finished the game with five shots and three shots on target. He earned the weekly honor for the first time in his career. The Gents (1-1-1) won for the eighth time in their last 13 games dating back to the beginning of last season and recorded their sixth home shutout during that span.

Bautista made an immediate impact last season as a rookie as he scored the game-winning goal in the Gents' home opener on Sept. 10, 2019 in a 1-0 win over LeTourneau. He played in all 16 games with 14 starts and scored six goals which was second-most on the team. He was also second on the team with three assists and his 15 points were also second on the team.
Centenary will remain at home next weekend to face Austin College on Saturday, March 13 at 7 p.m. The Gents then hit the road for three matches in a row beginning with a contest at St. Thomas on March 20 followed by matches at Colorado College (March 27) and Southwestern on April 3.
The Gents face Schreiner on April 10 for Senior Day in their home finale and then finish the regular season at Texas Lutheran on April 17. Centenary then will serve as host for the 2021 SCAC Men's Soccer Championship on April 23 and 25 at Mayo Field.
