The Gents (2-2-1, 2-1 SCAC) fell by a score of 1-0 to the St. Thomas Celts last Saturday in Houston in Centenary's first road match of the season. The Tigers (2-1-1, 2-0-1 SCAC) tied Southwestern 1-1 on the road in double overtime last weekend. Colorado College is currently third in the conference standings while the Gents are fifth. The teams split a pair of meetings last season with the Tigers winning 5-4 at home and the Gents returning the favor with a 2-0 shutout win at Mayo Field.

St. Thomas forward Ian Alvarez scored in the 28th minute in the first half off an assists from Gabe Salako last Saturday for a 1-0 lead that proved to be the final margin. Centenary was limited to just eight total shots on the game while St. Thomas took 10.

Gents' junior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) played all 90 minutes and made five saves and now has an impressive 234 in his career to rank second all-time in program history in the division III (2011-present) era. Borchalli has 19 saves this season and ranks third in the league in that category. He is also fourth in saves per game, sixth in goals against average, seventh in save percentage, and tied for first in shutouts.

Centenary currently ranks in the top three in the conference as a team in shots (first), goals (tied for second), points (third), and assists (tied for third). The gents' dynamic pair of sophomore midfielders, Andres Bautista (Houston, Texas) and Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) are tied for the team lead in goals (two) and Bautista is the team leader in assists (two) for a total of six point while Petreas has four points. The two are tied for third in the SCAC in goals, Bautista is third and Petreas fourth in points, and Bautista is tied for first in the league in assists.

The Gents remain on the road next weekend as well as they face Southwestern on Saturday, April 3 at 3 p.m. Centenary faces Schreiner on April 10 for Senior Day in their home finale and then finish the regular season at Texas Lutheran on April 17. Centenary then will serve as host for the 2021 SCAC Men's Soccer Championship on April 23 and 25 at Mayo Field.
