Softball Hits Road for First Time This Season For Doubleheader On Tuesday

Columbus, Miss. – The Centenary softball team will hit the road for the first time this season as the Ladies face the Mississippi University for Women Owls in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 and 4 p.m.

Live stats and live video for Tuesday's DH will be available at: OwlsAthletics.com.

The Ladies (3-4) split a non-conference doubleheader with the Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs on Saturday at the Centenary Softball Complex, falling in game one, 4-2, and winning the second game, 3-1. The Owls (5-1) won three of our games in the Millsaps Softball Tournament this past weekend in Jackson, Miss.

Centenary was scheduled to make its road debut last Thursday but their doubleheader at Hendrix in Conway, Ark. was rained out. The Ladies were also supposed to be in Baton Rouge this past weekend for a tournament hosted by Southern University but weather altered Centenary's schedule.

Ladies' senior center fielder Haley Campbell (Erath, La.) went 5-8 against the Bulldogs on Saturday in the two games with three doubles, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Campbell was 3-4 with three runs scored, two doubles, and a stolen base in game two.

Freshman Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, NV) had four hits on Saturday, and senior left fielder Maddie Fremen (Luling, La.) and junior Brittney Broussard (Rayne, La.) each had a pair of hits in game two.

Freshman pitcher Zoe Lanier (Hughes Springs, Texas) started game one for the Ladies and despite suffering the loss, she pitched well going six innings and allowing just three runs. She also contributed a pair of hits at the plate.

Centenary opens Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at home on March 7 with a doubleheader against the University of Dallas with games scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m. and game three set for Noon on Sunday, March 8.
