Centenary enters the series having lost two of three games at home last weekend to #22 Trinity, winning the series opener 10-0 in eight innings but were swept in a doubleheader, 13-12 and 10-5, the next day. Schreiner enters the weekend following a series win over Dallas at home as after dropping the series opener the Mountaineers' offense exploded by recording 22-5 and 23-7 wins. Schreiner is 5-8 at home this season.

The Diamond Gents look to continue their recent dominance over the Mountaineers as the Maroon and White have won 15-straight games over them and 17 of the last 18. Centenary's last loss to Schreiner came way back on Feb. 27, 2016 (11-8) at home. Centenary swept Schreiner last March 26-27 at Shehee Stadium, winning all three games by one run.

Centenary is on the road in conference play for the second time this season after losing two of three games at Texas Lutheran March 18-19 but finished the series on a high note after winning the finale 2-1.

The series this weekend will feature the conference's top two offensive teams as the Diamond Gents are hitting .306 as a team with a .399 on-base percentage and are slugging .431. Freshman LHP Tyler Herrera (Spring, Texas) was named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Rookie of the Week on Thursday after he turned in a dynamite performance on the mound in Centenary's 10-0 victory over Trinity last Friday. He blanked the Tigers on just three hits in his eight innings of work with nine strikeouts and just one walk. Herrera (3-0) lowered his team-low ERA to a stellar 0.69. He threw 81 pitches, 49 for strikes, and faced 27 batters. Herrera allowed a two-out single in the first inning, a leadoff single in the second, and a two-out single in the fifth.

He struck out a pair in the first, induced an inning-ending double play in the second, struck out two more in the fifth and also struck out a pair in both the seventh and eighth. Herrera is one of two SCAC pitchers to earn the weekly honor twice this season after he picked up the honor for the first time earlier this month.
