LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The SCAC office tonight announced the bracket for the 2022 baseball tournament, which will be begin Friday, May 6. Tournament Bracket | Official Tournament Website

For the first time in eight years, the tournament field has a new face as first-time participant University of St. Thomas (Texas) will battle alongside Centenary College, Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University for the 2022 conference baseball crown. Texas Lutheran is the defending champion of the event and has won two of the last three contested championships (the 2020 tournament was canceled due to the COVID pandemic).

The nation's 14th-ranked team according to D3baseball.com, Trinity (29-8 overall; 19-2 SCAC) earned the top seed for this year's championship and will take on fourth-seeded St. Thomas (17-23 overall; 11-10 SCAC) in Friday's first game, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Second-seeded Texas Lutheran (28-12; 17-4), which is receiving votes in the D3baseball.com Top 25 rankings, and third-seeded Centenary (24-15; 14-7) will play in Friday's second game, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. CT.

The double elimination tournament begins Friday, May 6 at The Depot at Cleburne Station in Cleburne, Texas and continues through Sunday, May 8. All games will be live streamed through the league's partnershp with Sportsgram.
