Kerrville, Texas– The Centenary baseball team split a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday against the Schreiner University Mountaineers, winning a wild game one by a score of 8-6 in 13 innings and then falling 11-9 in game two at Bob Henry Field.

The Diamond Gents (14-13, 4-5 SCAC) won the series after posting a dominating 12-1 victory in seven innings on Friday over the Mountaineers (12-12, 4-5 SCAC). Centenary finished the series by scoring an impressive 29 runs on 49 hits.

Senior 1B/RHP Preston Ludwick (Pflugerville, Texas) recorded his 200th career hit with a double in the eighth inning of game one as he becomes just the fourth player in the current division III era (2012-present) in program history to record 200 or more hits in a career. He needs 37 more to tie former teammate and current Centenary assistant coach Cody Crowder for the all-time record. He is also just seven RBI shy of 150 for his career.

Ludwick went 4-9 on Saturday with two RBI, three runs scored, three walks, a double, and a home run. He went 3-6 in game one as he recorded his 17th multi-hit performance of the season and finished the series 6-13 (.461) with five RBI, three runs scored, three extra bae hits (two doubles and a homer), and three walks.

The Diamond Gents continued their recent dominance over the Mountaineers as they have now won 19 of the last 21 games between the two teams and the loss in game two of Saturday's DH was Centenary's first loss to Schreiner since Feb. 27, 2016 (11-8) at home as the Maroon and White had their 17-game winning streak against the Mountaineers snapped. The Diamond Gents have now recorded 10 or more hits in game 19 times this season, at least 13 hits 12 times, and 15 or more five times. Centenary banged out a season-high 19 hits in game two on Saturday.

Centenary remains on the road next weekend to face the University of Dallas Crusaders in a three-game SCSC series in Irving, Texas.
