Men's Basketball Falls to LSU-S In Exhibition, 74-64

Shreveport – The Centenary men's basketball team dropped a 74-64 decision to the LSU-S Pilots on Wednesday evening at The Dock in an exhibition match as the Gents opened their 2019-20 season.

The Gents and Pilots met for the first time since the 2017-18 season as Centenary prepares or its regular season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Louisiana College. Centenary's home opener will be on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. against Millsaps in the Gold Dome.

The Pilots led 35-32 at halftime on Wednesday and then outscored Centenary, 39-32, after intermission to win by 10. The Gents shot 39 % from the field and were a solid 8-10 from the free throw line. LSU-S shot 48 % from the field including 56 % in the second half.

Two Gents scored in double figures on Wednesday led by Cedric Harris (Shreveport) who scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The 6-6 senior guard and former C.E. Byrd star was 7-17 from the floor and made five three pointers. Sophomore Ty Prince (Thorndale, Texas) added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Tra'Quan Knight and Gilbert Thomas combined for 32 points for the Pilots and were the only two double-digit scorers on the night.

Centenary will have one more tune-up before the regular portion of the schedule begins as the Gents face Northwestern State on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in another exhibition at Prather Coliseum in Natchitoches.
