No. 1 Seed men's Basketball Advances To SCAC Tournament Championship Game

Kerrville, Texas – The No. 1 seed Centenary men's basketball team defeated the Schreiner Mountaineers on Saturday 76-70 in the semifinals of the 2020 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship at Stephens Family Arena to advance to Sunday's title game. 

The Gents (17-9, 14-5 SCAC) will face Texas Lutheran in the title game at Noon. Live stats and live video will be available for Sunday's championship game at www.scacsports.com

Texas Lutheran defeated Austin College 79-72 in the second semifinal. Centenary extended its winning streak to nine and clinched a berth in the title game for the fourth time and first time since 2018. Centenary earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament for the first time in program history after previously being as high as the No. 2 seed times and advancing to the title game on all three occasions. 

Schreiner fell to 11-16 and 9-11 SCAC with the loss. The Moutaineers defeated Trinity by a score of 75-54 in Friday's quarterfinals to advance to Saturday's semifinal round.  Centenary won two of three games versus the Mountaineers as the two teams split the season series before saturday's game. 

Senior guard Cedric Harris (Shreveport) led the Gents on Saturday 26 points in 37 minutes on 8-16 shooting. Harris made 7 of his 13 three-point attempts and grabbed 12 rebounds.
