Men's Basketball Falls On Road To Colorado College

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Centenary men's basketball team fell, 72-67, to the Colorado College Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday at Reid Arena.

The Gents (8-9, 5-5 SCAC) split the season series with the Tigers (5-11, 3-7 SCAC) after defeating them 83-75 in overtime back on Dec. 29 at home.

Centenary finishes the weekend road trip with another conference game on Saturday at Johnson and Wales (2-15, 1-9 SCAC) at 6 p.m. central (5 p.m. local time). Centenary is currently alone in fourth place in the SCAC standings just behind Dallas, Austin College, and Trinity who are in a three-way tie for third place.

Sophomore guard Kile Mingo (Cypress, Texas) scored a career-high 21 points in 36 minutes to lead the Gents on Friday. Mingo shot 7-15 from the floor and made 7-13 of his three point baskets. He added nine rebounds, two steals, and one assist. He scored in double figures for the seventh time this season. Senior guard Cedric Harris (Shreveport) again scored in double figures as he has done in all 17 Centenary games this season as he had 13 in 38 minutes along with seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

Freshman forward Seth Thomas (Kilgore, Texas) joined Mingo and Harris in double figures with 10 points in 27 minutes and added four rebounds, one steal, and one block. The Gents shot 34.8 % (23-66) from the floor for the game. Four Tigers scored in double figures led by Cooxooeii Black's 25. The Tigers shot 46.2 % from the floor and outrebounded the Gents, 41-36.

The Gents return home next weekend for a pair of SCAC games at the Gold Dome, facing Schreiner on Friday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. and Trinity on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.  Five of Centenary's final seven games will be played at home.
