Conway, Ark. – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor University on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest and its final of the 2023 Hendrix Invitational hosted by Hendrix College at Grove Gymnasium.
The Ladies (4-4) finished 1-2 for the weekend after they split a pair of matches on Saturday, defeating Lyon College 3-2 and falling 3-0 to the host Warriors. The Cru improved to 11-1 on the season with Sunday's win.
UMHB won set one by a count of 25-19, took set two by an identical score, and closed out the match with a 25-23 score in the third and final set. The Ladies finished with 45 digs, 34 kills, 33 assists, five service aces, and four solo blocks. The Cru totaled 54 digs, 49 kills, 48 assists, seven aces, and one block.
Sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) totaled 13 assists and 10 digs with two aces, junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) added a team-best 14 digs, and junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) led the way in kills with 10 and added six digs, an assist, an ace, and a solo block.
Freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) capped off a solid weekend with four kills after an impressive pair of matches on Saturday and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) posted a superb .412 hitting percentage with only one error in 17 total attacks and finished with eight kills and a pair of solo blocks, freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) posted eight kills and seven digs, sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) had six digs, and senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) added four kills. Freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) matched Smith with a team-high 13 assists, which was a season best for the rookie.
The Ladies return to action on Tuesday evening as they head to Pineville, La. to face the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats at H.O.
