Ladies Fall Twice On Saturday In SCAC Play

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday in a SCAC Crossover, falling 3-1 to Schreiner University and 3-0 to the host Tigers inside the El Pomar Sports Center.

The Ladies (5-9, 0-4 SCAC) will wrap up their weekend with another conference contest against Trinity University (12-3, 4-0 SCAC) on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Match one recap: Schreiner 3 Centenary 1:

The Ladies finished with 49 digs, 32 kills, 26 assists, and four service aces while the Mountaineers (9-7, 2-3 SCAC) totaled 56 digs, 47 kills, 39 assists, 10 aces, and two blocks. Centenary won set one by a score of 25-20, but Schreiner reeled off three in a row – 25-17, 25-14, and finally 25-19.

Ladies' Leaders:

Aces: Sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) – 3

Assists: Meadow Smith – 20

Digs: Meadow Smith – 10

Kills: Junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) – 10

Smith added two kills to add to her fantastic match in which she was the Ladies' leader in assists, aces, and digs, and St. Martin added nine digs and an assist. Senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) added five kills and four digs, junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) had six kills, four digs, and an assist, and junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) chipped in six digs and an assist.

Sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) had eight digs and three assists, freshman S/DS Hannah Dimmel (Navasota, Texas) finished with three digs and an ace, freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) had three digs, and freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) recorded four kills and a dig. Freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) tallied five kills and a dig.

Match two recap: Colorado College 3 Centenary 0:

The Tigers (7-6, 4-1 SCAC) won the first two sets by identical 25-16 scores and then closed out the win in set three, 25-11.

Centenary tallied 19 digs, 19 kills, 15 assists, for aces, and one block. Colorado College finished with 46 kills, 41 assists, 38 digs, eight aces, and a block.

Ladies' Leaders:

Aces: Four tied with one each - Elizabeth Canady, Hannah Dimmel, Kiara Liedy, and Daly Nagot 

Assists: Meadow Smith – 8

Digs: Kiara Liedy – 6

Kills: Victoria Larson – 5

Canady added two kills and a dig, Dimmel also had a dig, and Nagot added six assists, three digs, and one kill. Lemelle had three digs and two kills, St. Martin finished with two kills and a dig, Larson added two digs and an assist, and Henderson tallied four kills and a block. Haley chipped in two kills and a dig and senior OH Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.) had a dig and a kill.
