Two Former Gents on Current Major League Baseball Rosters

Shreveport –  Centenary athletics is proud to announce that two former Gents pitchers, James Hoyt and Seth Lugo, are currently on major league baseball rosters playing for the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets respectively.

Hoyt, a Boise, Idaho native, pitched for Centenary from 2008-10. He was traded to Miami from Cleveland on Aug. 1 and has pitched in the majors previously for Houston from 2016-18. Lugo, a Shreveport native, was a 34th round draft pick of the Mets in 2011 played for the Gents from 2008-11. Hoyt went 1-0 with a 4.38 ERA in 32 appearances out of the bullpen in 2017. Lugo, 23-16 with a 3.28 ERA in his career, has a 3.60 ERA in five innings pitched this season with one save.
