
Preston Ludwick Named SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week
Centenary senior first baseman Preston Ludwick (Pflugerville, Texas) was named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week on Monday for games played from Sunday, February 7 through Sunday, February 14.
Lawrenceville, Ga. – Centenary senior first baseman Preston Ludwick (Pflugerville, Texas) was named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week on Monday for games played from Sunday, February 7 through Sunday, February 14.
Ludwick hit .429 overall in a pair of Centenary wins to open the season last week. The Gents defeated Louisiana College, 6-1, on Tuesday as Ludwick went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored and then in a 7-4 victory over ETBU on Friday, he went 1-3 with three RBI and a pair of walks.
He delivered a clutch two-out single in the bottom of the seventh on Friday with the Gents clinging to a one-run lead to help put the game away. In total, he went 3-7 at the plate with four RBI, a run scored and a pair of walks in the two wins.
Ludwick played in all 13 games last season, one of four Gents to do so, in a season cut short due to COVID-19. He ranked in the top three on the team in eight different statistical categories and ranked fourth on the team with a .407 on-base percentage. He batted .327, third on the team, with 17 hits in 52 at-bats and 10 RBI. He was also one of the top pitchers for the Gents as he went 2-1 with a 4.20 ERA with two starts and made four total appearances. Ludwick, an All-SCAC selection, as a sophomore, was named SCAC Hitter of the Week for the first time in his career.
