#20 Baseball Edges Texas Lutheran 5-4 on Friday In Series Opener

Shreveport - The No. 20 Centenary baseball team defeated the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs, 5-4, on Friday night in the opener of a key Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series featuring two of the league's best teams at Shehee Stadium.

The Gents (30-7, 14-5 SCAC) remained undefeated at home, improving to an astounding 17-0 and also reached 30 wins in a season for just the 10 time in program history and second time in the division III (2012-present) era. The Bulldogs, who entered the game atop the SCAC standings, dropped to 23-11 and 13-3 in the SCAC.

The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday with games set for Noon and 3 p.m. Centenary will hold its annual Senior Day recognition following the 3 p.m. game on Saturday.

Senior right-hander Preston Ludwick (Pflugerville, Texas) won his league-best eighth game of the season as he went 6.2 innings and allowed four runs, ut just two earned, on only three hits. He walked two and struck out six. Sophomore Parker Primeaux (Lake Charles, La.) relieved him and pitched the final 2.1 innings and was dominant as he struck out five of the seven batters he faced. Primeaux earned his conference and nation-best 10th save of the season.
