RHP Parker Primeaux and the Diamond Gents are off to a great start this season after taking 3 of 4 games at home over Ozarks.

Shreveport - The Centenary baseball team fell 5-2 to the University of the Ozarks Eagles in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday at Shehee Stadium.

The Diamond Gents (2-1) won the first two games of the four-game series by a combined score of 19-4, but were held to just six hits and a pair of runs against the Eagles (1-2). Ozarks finished with 11 hits and received a complete game from Jake Estrada (1-0) to win its first game this season.

Freshman RHP Jacob Bareswill (Monroe, La.) made his collegiate debut for Centenary and suffered the loss as he allowed five runs, two earned, on six hits in his 2.1 innings of work. He faced 16 batters, hitting one, and struck out one without a walk. Senior RHP Christian Diaz (Houston, Texas) pitched the final 4.2 innings and held the Eagles scoreless on five hits with four K's. He faced 18 batters with no walks.

Estrada allowed just two unearned runs and six hits in his seven innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. His offense gave him a 5-0 lead after its first three at-bats and that was all he needed the rest of the way. The Diamond Gents scored their two runs in the bottom of the third as freshman RF Carson Livesay (Lafayette, La.) junior 2B Jobee Boone (Opelousas, La.) hit RBI singles following two Eagles' errors. Four scoreless innings by both offenses followed though, and Estrada had all the run support he needed to get the win.

Boone finished 2-3 with an RBI, Livesay went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and senior SS Noah Koehmstedt (San Diego, Calif.), Freshman 3B Hayden Stringfellow (Boerne, Texas), and freshman LF Lenny Forth (Flower Mound, Texas) each had one hit. The Eagles were paced by 3B Isaac Price who went 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. CF Cole Clark and 1B Nicholas Bennett combined to go 4-8 with two runs scored.

Each team committed a pair of errors. Ozarks left eight on base, Centenary left five, and neither team drew a walk. The Eagles struck out five times and the Diamond Gents went down on strikes six times.
