The Centenary baseball team returns home this weekend for a key Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series versus the University of St. Thomas Celts beginning on Friday with a single game set for 6 p.m. at Shehee Stadium.

The Diamond Gents (12-10, 4-5 SCAC) and Celts (12-13, 2-7 SCAC) are scheduled to complete the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 and 4 p.m.
Centenary was swept at then-No. 24 Trinity last weekend in San Antonio, as the Diamond Gents fell 7-2 in the series opener and then dropped both games of a DH, 6-2 and 8-7 in 11 innings. St. Thomas has lost seven games in a row. Centenary leads the all-time series, 4-2, but have lost two in a row after the Maroon and White defeated the Celts 19-1 in eight innings in the series opener in a three-game conference series last season in Houston, UST swept a DH on the final day of the regular season.
The Diamond Gents, 9-5 at home this season, are now 42-13 on their home field since the beginning of the 2021 season. Centenary enters the series hitting .276 as a team with a .360 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of 343. The Diamond Gents are averaging 6.5 runs per game and have scored 10+ runs in a game six times this season and had 10+ hits 11 times. Centenary owns a 3.58 team ERA with four complete games, three shutouts, and two saves.
Freshman LF Carson Livesay (Lafayette, La.) is Centenary's top hitter so far this season as he is batting a team-best .380 (.463 OBP/.549 slugging) with 27 hits and 12 RBI in 71 at-bats. He is fourth in the conference in batting average and third in OBP. He has scored 21 runs, walked 10 times, and stolen seven bases in nine attempts. He has eight multi-hit performances with five doubles, two triples, and one home run.
Junior 2B Jobee Boone (Opelousas, La.) is hitting .354 (.407 OBP/.380 slugging) with a team-high 28 hits and team-best 14 RBI. In 79 at-bats, he has 16 runs scored, two doubles, six walked, and six stolen bases and has seven multi-hit performances. Senior CF Gary Hewitt (Cedar Park, Texas) is hitting .317 (.363 OBP/.366 slugging) with 26 hits, 19 runs scored, 13 RBI, a team-high 10 stolen bases, six walks, two doubles, and one triple. Hewitt also has seven multi-hit games.
Freshman DH/OF Lenny Forth (Flower Mound, Texas) is hitting .304 (.368 OBP/.342 slugging) with 24 hits, 15 runs scored, 11 RBI, six walks, three doubles, and three stolen bases. Senior SS Noah Koehmstedt (San Diego, Calif.) is batting .279 (.421 OBP/.361 slugging) with 17 hits, 10 RBI, 12 runs scored, seven stolen bases, three doubles, and a triple. Sophomore OF/DH Cade LaBruyere (Iowa, La.) is hitting .271 (.338 OBP/.322 slugging) with 16 hits, 15 runs scored, 10 RBI, seven stolen bases, and three doubles. Junior C Austyn Benoit (Welsh, La.) is batting .302 (.356 OBP/.453 slugging) with 16 hits, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored, three doubles, a triple, a homer, three BB, and a stolen base.
Senior RHP Parker Primeaux (Lake Charles, La.) is the leader in innings pitched (41.1) and second on the pitching staff wit ha solid 2.61 ERA. He is 3-0 with one save and 40 strikeouts compared to just 11 walks. Primeaux is just three saves away from tying the career mark of 17 for the division III era (2012-present). All-American sophomore LHP Tyler Herrera (Spring, Texas) is 3-3 with a 3.72 ERA and a team-leading two complete games. He is tied with Primeaux for the team lead in strikeouts (40) and has pitched the second-most innings (38.2) on the team and like Primeaux has also only walked 11 batters this season.
Freshman RHP Aidan Reichek (Bellaire, Texas) is 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA and has 23 K's compared to just seven BB in 27.1 IP. He added his name to the record books as he tossed a no-hitter against Dallas at home on March 25 in an 18-0 run-rule win in seven innings. The no-hitter is the first thrown since Matthew Devillier held Austin College hitless on April 20, 2018 at home. Reichek and Devillier's no-hitters are the only two in the division III era (2012-present) in program history.
Following his no hitter, Reichek was named to the named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Div. III Rookie of the Week, and the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Freshman RHP Jacob Broussard (Houston, Texas) is 1-2 with a 1.56 ERA and a save. In 17.1 IP he has struck out 10 and has made 11 appearances and one start. Freshman LHP Cody Myers (Friendswood, Texas) is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA. He has made eight appearances and four starts and in 21 IP has walked nine and struck out 21.
Centenary head coach Mike Diaz is just four wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history. Diaz, currently in his 13th season, is 288-206-1, needs just three wins to match former HC Ed McCann, who coached from 1999-2010, and won 291 games. Diaz can tie McCann with a sweep over the Celts.
