Sherman, Texas – The Centenary baseball team will finish its regular season with a three-game weekend series versus the Austin College Kangaroos in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 and 5 p.m.

The possibility of inclement weather in Sherman throughout the weekend caused changes to the original schedule as the series was set to begin on Friday evening. Saturday's DH between the Diamond Gents (19-13, 10-7 SCAC) and 'Roos (6-28, 2-14 SCAC) will be played at Sherman High School and Sunday's series finale will be played at Noon on campus at Baker Field.

The Diamond Gents enter the weekend winners of three games in a row while the 'Roos have lost two-straight games and are just 5-16 at home this season. Centenary recorded a dominant 10-1 victory over the East Texas Baptist University Tigers on Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest in Marshall, Texas following a series win over the Southwestern University Pirates in SCAC play last weekend on the road.

Centenary swept a DH last Saturday by scores of 6-0 in game one and 10-0 in seven innings in game two as the Maroon and White rebounded from a disappointing 6-5 loss in the series opener to win their second-straight series following a home sweep of Schreiner April 14-16.

Centenary is currently in fourth place in the league standings and two games ahead of fifth-place St. Thomas (8-9). The SCAC Baseball Championship will be held May 5-7 in Cleburne, Texas. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the event. Centenary is the defending tournament champion. The Diamond Gents can clinch a berth into the championship with one win versus the 'Roos coupled with a St. Thomas loss to Trinity. The Celts and Tigers are playing a DH on Friday in Houston.

Centenary enters the weekend ranked second in the conference in team ERA (3.30) and fourth in both batting average (.292) and fielding percentage (.959). The Diamond Gents average 6.5 runs per game, have 57 extra-base hits, 74 stolen bases, with a .374 OBP % and a .368 slugging %.
