Men's Basketball Selected as "Team of the Week"
The Centenary men's basketball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Gents edged the University of the Ozarks Eagles 69-68 in a thrilling victory in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday evening inside Mabee Gymnasium in Clarksville, Ark.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's basketball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Gents edged the University of the Ozarks Eagles 69-68 in a thrilling victory in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday evening inside Mabee Gymnasium in Clarksville, Ark.
The Gents (3-7, 1-1 SCAC) were back on the court for the first time since defeating the Millsaps College Majors by a score of 72-57 in a non-conference contest back on Dec. 13 at home in their most recent action. Ozarks led 34-31 at halftime and the Gents outscored the Eagles, 38-34.
Ozarks, who defeated Centenary 89-78 in the first meeting between the two teams on Dec. 4 in Shreveport, fell to 9-2 and 1-1 in league play. Centenary also snapped Ozark's eight-game winning streak as the Eagles had not lost since Nov. 16. The Gents improved to 1-3 in road/neutral contests and the Eagles lost for the first time this season at home and are now 3-1. The all-time series is now tied 4-4.
Senior G Craig Collier (North Little Rock, Ark.) led all scorers with a career-high 31 points as he played all 40 minutes and finished 12-20 from the floor, 4-7 from beyond the arc, and 3-3 from the free-throw line with five assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Collier's previous career high was 29 earlier this season against Texas College and he has now scored in double figures six times this season and has topped 20 points five times.

The Gents will return home on Tuesday as they take a break from conference play to face the LeTourneau University YellowJackets at 7 p.m. in the Gold Dome.
