
Gents Finish Season This Weekend On Road
The Centenary men's basketball team will finish its season on the road this weekend with a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests, beginning on Friday night with a matchup versus the Austin College ‘Roos set for 8 p.m. inside Hughey Gym.

The Gents (6-17, 4-10 SCAC) aim to snap a nine-game losing streak and improve their 1-6 road record. The 'Roos are 7-16 overall and 2-12 in league play and are 5-7 at home this season. Centenary won the first meeting between the teams this season, 81-73, in Shreveport last month.
Centenary is in search of its first win since Jan. 17 at home against Southwestern University while Austin College snapped an 11-game losing streak on Sunday with a 91-85 win at McMurry University. Both the Gents and 'Roos have been eliminated from contention for next weekend's SCAC Tournament in Irving, Texas.
The Gents, the defending SCAC Tournament champions, are in an extremely unfamiliar position this season, as they were picked fourth in the SCAC this season in the preseason poll and will post their first losing season under eighth-year head coach Chris Dorsey. Centenary is still an impressive 69-51 in SCAC games in the last eight season and Dorsey is 108-89 in his tenure.
The Gents are averaging 68.9 PPG, shooting 38.5 % from the floor, 29.1 % from beyond the arc, 74.5 % from the free-throw line, and average 30.6 rebounds/game. Centenary also averages 10.0 assists per game, 6.7 steals/game and 2.6 blocks/game. The Gents have tallied 10+ assists in a game 14 times and done so in eight of their last 12 games, recorded double-digit steals six times, and five or more blocked shots five times.
Centenary is the best free-throw shooting team in the conference and is tied for 48th nationally in division III, the Gents are tied for 33rd in the country in turnover margin (3.9/game) and have forced 378 TO's this season. The Gents are also 74th nationally in steals per game (8.8) with 203 steals for the season.

Collier is ranked 12th in the conference in scoring and has 15 double-figure scoring performances while scoring 20+ eight times. He is also ranked sixth in the league in FT % (84.4 %) and ranks in the top 100 nationally. Collier also averages 2.6 rebounds per game, shoots 39.0 % from the floor and 35.2 % from 3-point range. He ranks 14th in the SCAC in steals per game (1.4), seventh in 3-point FG made (51 total and 2.2/game) and is sixth in the league in minutes played, averaging 31.5 minutes/game and has played 40 minutes twice.
Greenleaf, who is second on the team averaging 12.1 PPG, is fifth in the conference in blocked shots, seventh in the league in rebounding and is 24th in scoring despite missing the last two games with an injury. He is also eighth in FG % (52.3), and is 12th in steals (1.4/game). He has 13 double-digit scoring performances this season and has scored 20+ four times along with four double-doubles.
Junior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) is averaging a whopping 18.3 PPG but does not qualify as one of the conference's leading scorers as he missed the first six games of the season. Since his return in 16 games, Beverly has reached double figures 14 times while scoring 20+ points six times and 30 or more twice as he has scored a career-high 32 in two games. He has scored 20+ points in five of his last 10 games and has reached double digits in seven-consecutive games.
Senior G Jalen Ned (New Orleans, La.) averages 10.2 PPG, 4.2 rebounds per game, shoots 41.0 % from the floor, 32.9 % from beyond the arc, 78.2 % from the FT line, and has reached double figures 12 times this season. Addison, in addition to his team-leading 1.5 steals/game which ranks seventh in the conference, averages 6.7 PPG, 5.4 rebounds/game, and 1.3 assists/game. The rookie shoots 43.8 % from the floor and 70.7 % from the FT line. Addison is ranked 17th in the conference in rebounding and sixth in blocked shots/game (0/9 per game). He has reached double figures seven times.
A Glance at the 'Roos:
Austin College features four players who average double figures, led by Jackson Rennie's 16.5 PPG which is seventh-best in the conference.
Price Bradley (3.2/game) and Jamien June (3.1/game) are sixth and seventh in the league in assists per game.
Rodney Wecker is in his 18th season as head coach of the 'Roos.
The Gents will face the University of Dallas Crusaders on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Irving, Texas to close their season.
