The Gents (3-8, 1-1 SCAC) took a break from conference play on Tuesday as the Maroon and White fell 98-87 to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets in an offensive battle at home. Centenary evened its conference record last weekend with a thrilling win over the University of the Ozarks Eagles 69-68 in Clarksville, Ark. after Ozarks defeated Centenary 89-78 on Dec. 4 in the conference opener for both teams.
Dallas enters Sunday's action at 5-6 overall and 1-1 in SCAC play. The Crusaders, 1-4 on the road this season, have lost four games in a row with their last win coming at home over Austin College on Dec. 6.
The Gents were picked to finish fourth in the conference preseason poll while the Crusaders were picked 8th. The conference is separated into two divisions this season – the Blue and the Gold. Dallas and Centenary are currently tied in the Blue division with Austin College and Ozarks.
The top six teams in the conference will qualify for the SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament, which will be held February 28 through March 2 and hosted by the Crusaders in Irving, Texas. The winner of that event will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Gents are averaging 69.1 PPG, shooting 38.9 % from the floor, 27.9 % from beyond the arc, 73.8 % from the free-throw line, and average 30.6 rebounds/game.
Gents' Season Individual Statistical Leaders:

(Junior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) – 20.4 PPG)
* Beverly has only played in five games due to injury
Rebounding: Senior F Jakobi Greenleaf (Houston, Texas) – 6.9 RPG
Assists: Collier – 2.5/game

Steals: Freshman G Nicholas Addison (Cedar Hill, Texas) and Greenleaf – 1.8/game each
Senior G Jalen Ned (New Orleans, La.) is averaging 11.3 PPG, third on the team, and Greenleaf (9.6 PPG) is fourth. Addison averages 6.4, freshman G Trenton Thomas (Cedar Hill, Texas) is averaging 75.4 PPG, and Freshman G Sirwilliam McDuffie (Houston, Texas) averages 4.6 PPG.
Beverly missed the first six games of the season with an injury and thus has not played enough to rank among the league's top scorers, but has come back stronger than ever and scored a career-high 32 points on Tuesday. He played 35 minutes and finished 10-19 from the floor, 5-10 from beyond the arc, and 7-8 from the FT line with a steal. Beverly hit five treys in a game for the second time this season and scored 30 points for the second time in his career after scoring 30 against the University of Dallas last season at home.
Beverly was joined in double figures against LeTourneau by Collier who had 20 and Ned, who scored 15. Greenleaf added seven, freshman G Allen Paul (Katy, Texas) scored three, and Addison had two points. Senior G Kyron Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) scored a career-high eight points in just his second game of the season.
Collier is tied for 10th in the league in scoring and Ned is in the top 30 while Greenleaf ranks in the top 10 in rebounding and is shooting a team-best 52.3 % from the field which is top 15 in the conference. Collier is also shooting a team-best 91.9 % (34-37) from the FT line which is second in the conference and ranks 17th nationally in division III. Addison and Greenleaf are both ranked in the top five in the league in steals and top 10 in blocked shots and Collier is in the top 10 in 3-point baskets made.
The Crusaders feature a strong offensive as they average 76.3 PPG and have four players averaging double figures – Thomas Fleming (19.6 PPG), Jack Boyle (15.8 PPG), Johny Olmsted (13.8 PPG), and Marquise McPipe (10.7 PPG). Fleming is in the conference's second-leading scorer while both Boyle and Olmsted rank in the top 20. Boyle is the leading rebounder in the SCAC with 13.1/game.
The Gents, just 2-5 on their home court this season, are still now 24-10 in their last 34 home games and are 45-16 in the Gold Dome since the beginning of the 2019-20 season.
Sunday begins a four-game homestand for the Gents as they will next face Austin College on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and then welcome both Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University to town next weekend.
The Gents and Crusaders will meet again next month, on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Irving, Texas in the regular-season finale for both teams.
