The Gents (6-15, 4-8 SCAC) aim to snap a seven-game losing streak as they are in search of their first win since Jan. 17 at home against Southwestern University. Colorado College (11-10, 7-5 SCAC) is 4-2 on the road this season and looks to rebound from a 66-64 home loss to the University of Dallas on Sunday. The Tigers, 7-3 over their last 10 games, defeated the Gents 101-72 in Colorado Springs on Jan. 24.
Centenary, 5-8 at home this season, is in unfamiliar territory in terms of the current losing streak and its overall losing record as the Maroon and White have been one of the conference's most successful and consistent programs in recent years. Centenary is 48-19 at home since the beginning of the 2019-20 season and 27-13 in its last 40 on the Gold Dome court.
The Gents were picked to finish fourth in the conference preseason poll while the Tigers were picked third. The conference is separated into two divisions this season – the Blue and the Gold. Centenary is currently fourth in the Blue Division while Colorado College is second. The Gents, the defending conference tournament champions, have their work cut out for them if they are to clinch a berth in this season's edition of the event.
The top six teams in the conference (top three from each division) will qualify for the SCAC Men's Basketball Tournament, which will be held February 28 through March 2 and hosted by the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. The winner of that event will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Gents are averaging 70.4 PPG, shooting 38.8 % from the floor, 29.7 % from beyond the arc, 74.2 % from the free-throw line, and average 31.0 rebounds/game. Centenary also averages 10.3 assists per game, 6.7 steals/game and 2.5 blocks/game. The Gents have tallied 10+ assists in a game 14 times and done so in eight of their last 10 games, recorded double-digit steals six times, and five or more blocked shots four times.
Centenary is the second-best free-throw shooting team in the conference and ranks 52nd nationally in division III, the Gents are tied for 32nd in the country in turnover margin (3.9/game) and have forced 346 TO's this season. The Gents are also 70th nationally in steals per game (8.9) with 187 steals for the season.
