Lacrosse Opens Season At Home Sunday Versus Huntingdon College

 

Shreveport – The Centenary lacrosse team will open its 2020 season against the Huntingdon College Hawks on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mayo Field.

Huntingdon, from Montgomery, Ala., opened its season on Saturday with a convincing 20-3 victory over the University of Dallas on the road.

"We are looking forward to the start of the season and a return to NCAA play," said Gents head coach CJ Seling. "Our guys know that there will be times where we will be facing adversity in our first year but we have a great group of strong willed players that know it will only pay off in the end."

The roster features 15 players, seven from the state of Louisiana of which six are from Shreveport or Bossier City. The key returnees are junior Ahnry Avina (Dallas, Texas), senior Carlos Romero (Dallas, Texas), Brooks Smitha (Shreveport) and Thomas Siskron (Shreveport).

Several newcomers are expected to make an impact this season including a trio of local products in Christopher Dant, Michael Mosura, and John-Mark Waniewski, all Airline High School graduates.

The Gents hit the road to face LaGrange (Feb. 14) , Oglethorpe (Feb. 16), and Birmingham-Southern (Feb. 18) before returning home for three-consecutive home games in early March.
