Lacrosse Falls To Hilbert At Home, 20-8

Shreveport - The Centenary men's lacrosse team fell, 20-8, to the Hilbert College Hawks on Thursday evening in a non-conference game at Mayo Field.

The Gents (0-5) were playing at home for just the second time this season and first time since Feb. 9 against Huntingdon in their season opener. Centenary was away from home Feb. 14-18 for a three-game road trip to Alabama and Georgia, facing LaGrange, Ogelthorpe, and Birmingham-Southern. Hilbert improved to 3-1 with Thursday's victory.

Freshman Michael Mosura (Bossier City) scored three goals to increase his season total to 10. Mosura added an assist and was extremely aggressive as he recorded 12 total shots, 10 on goal. Brooks Smitha (Shreveport) matched Mosura with three goals of his own.

Hilbert took a 12-6 lead at halftime despite both teams recording 14 shots apiece. Six different Hilbert players scored at least one goal. James Chadwick led the way with six goals for the Hawks.

The Gents face Southwestern on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. in a SCAC contest. Centenary then faces Franciscan on Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m.
