The Ladies (3-9-2, 1-2-2 SCAC) edged the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs 2-1 back on Oct. 17 on their annual Senior Day at Mayo Field. Austin College enters Friday's contest at 1-11-1 overall and 0-4-1 in SCAC play.
Centenary won for the first time at Mayo Field this season and the Ladies are an impressive 14-8-1 in their last 23 home matches and are 2-5-1 on the road this season. The Ladies enter Friday's match tied for fifth in the conference with St. Thomas and are just a half game behind Dallas.
Senior D Margot Frost (Prairieville, La.) made the most of her Senior Day as she scored her first-career goal, connecting in the 17th minute off an assist from fellow senior Gabby McDonald (Pasadena, Texas) to give the Ladies a 1-0 lead against the Bulldogs.
The Ladies extended their lead to 2-0 just before halftime as junior F Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) scored. Centenary senior GK Avery Sanderson (McKinney, Texas) played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves. The Bulldogs took 15 shots to seven for the Ladies and took three corner kicks but Centenary's stingy defense held TLU in check to record the win. Sanderson enters Friday's play ranked sixth in the conference in goals against average (2.28) and seventh in saves with 42.
