Victoria, Texas – The Centenary men's golf team returns to the course on Monday as the Gents are set to tee off in the UHV Fall Classic hosted by University of Houston-Victoria at Victoria Country Club.

The Gents are coming off of an impressive performance at the UMHB Men's Invitational hosted by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor last month in Temple, Texas. Centenary finished sixth at 11-over par 571 and was led by senior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) as he claimed his first-career individual title, firing an 11-under par 129 to win by two shots.

Centenary shot a 4-over par 284 in the first round and finished the day in a three-way tie for third place and followed that with a 7-over par 287 in the final round. Bennett is the first Gent to win an individual title since Richard Polan at the 2022 Rhodes Spring Classic. He was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week one day after his win.

The Gents will be joined this week by the host Jaguars along with Blinn College, the University of Dallas, Louisiana Christian University, Our Lady of the Lake University, University of the Southwest, University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of St. Thomas.

Play begins each day with an 8:30 shotgun start. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday at the par 72, 6,870-yard course. Centenary's lineup will consist of Bennett, freshman Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.), junior Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.), sophomore Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas), and senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.).

The rookie Snell had an impressive collegiate debut last month as he fired a 5-under par 135 to finish in a tie for fourth place. He shot a 2-under 68 in the first round and followed that with a 3-under 67 in the final round. Jones shot 12-over par 152 with a pair of 6-over par 76's to tie for 49th place. The 76's are the lowest scores of his career. Borchert finished in a tie for 60th after a 10-over par 80 in the final round preceded by a 6-over par 76 in round one. Martin did not play in round one but returned and shot a 15-over par 85 in the final round but did not record a finish.

Bennett shot a 6-under par 64 in the first round at the UMHB Men's Invitational, which marked the lowest round by a Centenary men's golfer in the division III era (2011-present) and he followed that up with a 5-under 65 in the final round, highlighted by consecutive birdies to cap his winning round.

Bennett's impressive resume includes a victory, one runner-up, three top five finishes, and seven top-10 finishes in his career. He finished in a three-way tie for sixth at 6-over par 222 at the conference championships last season to earn Second-Team All-SCAC honors.
