Gents 12th After Two Round At Pinecrest Invitational

Longview, Texas – The Centenary men's and women's golf teams completed day one of action in the Fabric Solutions and Technologies Pinecrest Invitational on Monday at the Pinecrest Country Club.

The Gents shot a 55-over par 631 after two rounds and are in 12th place while the Ladies played one round and shot a 116-over par 404 and are in seventh place. The Gents are back in action for the first time this spring while the Ladies are playing their second tournament of the spring after recording a ninth-place finish in the Coastal Georgia Women's Winter Invite last month in St. Simons Island, Ga.

The FST Pinecrest Invitational concludes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and is hosted by LeTourneau University. The men will play the final 18 holes on Tuesday while the women will play their final 18 holes.

The men are playing a par-72, 6722-yard layout while the women are being tested by a par-72, 5,860-yard setup. The Gents shot rounds of 320-311 and

Southwestern University leads on the men's side after 36 holes as the Pirates shot a 2-over par 578 and are 10 shots ahead of second-place LeTourneau. The Pirates' Ethan Bridges holds the individual lead at 3-under par 141, just one shot ahead of a trio of golfers tied for second at 2-under 142 – his teammate Matthew Peesker, East Texas Baptist University's Jack Sladek, and Williams Baker of Hendrix.

Freshman Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) led the way for the Ladies on Monday as she shot a 21-over par 93 and is tied for 27th place. Freshman Hailey Adams (Hamburg, Ark.) shot a 27-over par 99 to sit in a tie for 34th place, sophomore Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) is tied for 36th place after shooting a 31-over par 103, freshman Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas) shot a 37-over 109, and freshman Mia Knox (Chicago, Ill.) shot a 190 and is in 43rd place.

The Ladies shot a 116-over par 404 total as a team as all but Knox's score counted toward their team total. William Penn University is the 18-hole leader on the women's side at 38-over par 326, nine shots ahead of Southwestern (47-over par 335).

Host LeTourneau is third (62-over par 350), the University of Dallas is fourth, Doane College is fifth, and ETBU is in sixth just ahead of the Ladies. William Penn's Olivia Lange and LeTourneau's Hannah Newell share the individual lead at 6-over par 78 as they are two shots ahead of a pair at 8-under par and three at 10-over.

Senior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.) led the way for the Gents as he shot a 7-over par 151 as he shot rounds of 78-73 to end the day in a tie for 27th place. Freshman Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.) is tied for 39th place at 10-over par 154 after shooting rounds of 78-76.

Sophomore Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) is tied for 60th place at 19-over par 163 after shooting rounds of 82-81 and senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.) shot rounds of 83-81 and is tied for 62nd place at 20-over par 164. Junior Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) shot an 82 in round one followed by a 93 in round two for a 31-over par 175 total and is tied for 74th place and sophomore Hahn Bridges (Sterlington, La.) is tied for 77th at 34-over par 178 (93-5). The Gents' top four scores counted toward their team total.
