Women's Basketball Set To Face Colorado College Friday

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Centenary women's basketball team will face the Colorado College Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday at 7:30 p.m. central (8:30 p.m. local time) inside Reid Arena.

Centenary finishes the weekend road trip with another conference game on Saturday at Johnson and Wales at 7 p.m. central (6 p.m. local time). Live stats and live video stream are available for both games this weekend via www.gocentenary.com

The Ladies (1-15, 1-8 SCAC) lost at St. Thomas last Saturday in their most recent game. Centenary's overall record is deceiving though, as eight of its losses this season have been by 11 points or less with five single-digit losses. Colorado College enters Friday's game at 10-6 overall and 6-3 in SCAC play.

Junior forward Bre Frierson (Shreveport) was the leading scorer again for Centenary last Saturday, a common trend this season, as she scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in just 15 minutes. Frierson reached double figures for the 11th time this season and 10th straight time. She leads the team and is tied for eighth in the SCAC averaging 13.7 points per game and is also tied for eighth in rebounding (6.9 rebounds per game) and ranks in the top 10 in the SCAC in field goal percentage, blocked shots, and offensive rebounds.

Junior guard Jennae Mayberry (Clovis, Calif.) joined Frierson in double figures with 10 points in 29 minutes against the Celts last Saturday. Mayberry has scored 39 points in Centenary's last four games, including three games in double figures. She added four rebounds and two assists. Senior forward Deunya Small (Shreveport) had a solid performance with seven points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes played. She ranks seventh in the conference in rebounding, averaging 7.1 per game, and is ninth in assists (43) and sits in a three-way tie for second in defensive rebounds with 89.

The Ladies are one of the top rebounding teams in the conference, averaging 40.1 per game which is tied for fourth in the conference with Texas Lutheran.

The Ladies return home next weekend for a pair of SCAC games at the Gold Dome, facing Schreiner on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Trinity on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m.  Five of Centenary's final seven games will be played at home.
