Women's Basketball Falls On Road At Southwestern

Georgetown, Texas - The Centenary women's basketball team fell, 47-34, on the road to the Southwestern Pirates in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at the Robertson Center.

The Ladies (1-20, 1-13 SCAC) were aiming for a season sweep over Southwestern as the Ladies defeated the Pirates 61-57, at home on Jan. 10 in the first meeting between the teams. The Pirates improved to 7-13 and 5-8 in the SCAC with the win. Eleven of the Centenary's losses this season have been by 14 points or less, with eight by 11 points or less and six by single digits displaying how hard the Ladies have played and how competitive they are.

Freshman guard Destini Powell (Minden, La.) scored eight points and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds in 27 minutes with 10 of the boards coming on the defensive end. The Ladies, one of the top rebounding teams in the SCAC, outrebounded the Pirates 46-37.

Cecily Woolfolk scored 13 points to lead the Pirates and was the lone Southwestern player to reach double digits.

The Ladies wrap up the road trip with a game at Texas Lutheran on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. The Ladies will close the regular season with three-straight home games against St. Thomas (Feb. 14), Austin College (Feb. 21), and Dallas (Feb. 22) on Senior Day.
