Women's Basketball Falls To Nationally Ranked Trinity At Home

Shreveport. – The Centenary women's basketball team lost to the 11th ranked Trinity Tigers, 100-25, on Sunday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (1-19, 1-12 SCAC) were led in scoring by freshman forward Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) with 11 points. Bagwell, who scored a career-high 14 points in just 15 minutes off of the bench in Friday's 65-50 loss to Schreiner, made 5-6 shots in 20 minutes on Sunday and also grabbed six rebounds.

Trinity improved to 16-3 and 11-1 SCAC with the win and had four players in double figures led by Abby Holland's game-high 18. The Tigers raced out to a 50-10 lead at halftime and cruised to the victory. The wide margin was not typical for the Ladies this season as ten of the Centenary's losses this season have been by 14 points or less, with eight by 11 points or less and six by single digits displaying how hard the Ladies have played and how competitive they are.

Junior forward Bre Frierson (Shreveport) was held to just four points in 14 minutes off the bench as she played in her second game in a row after missing last weekend's road trip to Colorado. Frierson failed to reach double figures for the first time since Dec. 7 and Sunday marked just the sixth time all season she did not score 10 or more points in a game. She entered the game averaging a team-best 13.5 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game which both rank in the top 10 in the SCAC. She also ranks in the top 10 in the SCAC in field goal percentage, blocked shots, and offensive rebounds.

Centenary is on the road next weekend for a pair of games in Texas. The Ladies will face Southwestern on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Texas Lutheran on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. Centenary defeated Southwestern, 61-57, at home on Jan. 10 in the first meeting between the teams.

The Ladies will close the regular season with three-straight home games against St. Thomas (Feb. 14), Austin College (Feb. 21), and Dallas (Feb. 22) on Senior Day.

Live stats and live video are available for all home games and admission is FREE to all Centenary home athletics events.
