Bre Frierson Named Women’s college basketball Player-of-the-Week By LSWA

BATON ROUGE, La. – Centenary's Bre Frierson has been named the Women's college basketball Player-of-the-Week by the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association.

Frierson, a junior from Shreveport, La. was selected by a panel of voters from the list of nominees and recognized for her outstanding from games played Feb. 17-23, 2020.

The junior forward capped off a great individual season with 21 points and 12 rebounds in 23 minutes on Saturday in the Ladies' dominant 22-point home victory over Dallas at the Gold Dome. Frierson made nine of her 13 shot attempts from the floor, three of her four free throw attempts, and collected two assists and two steals. Frierson scored just a single point in Friday's tough 66-44 loss to Austin College but grabbed 12 rebounds and had a steal and a block in 19 minutes of action. Saturday marked Frierson's fifth double-double of the season.

Frierson, who finished the season averaging a team-best 12.1 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game, second on the team, played in 23 games this season with 16 starts. She ranks in the top 10 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in points, rebounds, field goal percentage, and offensive rebounds.

This marks Frierson's second time to be named LSWA Women's college basketball Player-of-the-Week this season after sharing the honor with Kira Bonner of Northwestern State last month. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
