Marshall, Texas – The Centenary women's basketball team fell in an overtime heartbreaker to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets on Friday evening, 67-60, in the East Texas Baptist University Classic at Ornleas Gym.

The Ladies (0-2) led 53-49 with 1:14 remaining in regulation but a free throw by the YellowJackets in the final seconds tied the game and sent it to overtime tied at 53-53. LeTourneau (1-0) then outscored Centenary 14-7 in the OT period to seal the comeback win.

Centenary fell 63-50 in its regular-season opener to the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats on Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest in Pineville, a game that was called early with 6:19 remaining in the fourth quarter due to issues of humidity and moisture on the court. The Ladies will face the host ETBU on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Ladies shot 33.3 % (21-63) for the game while the YellowJackets were 19-55 for 34.5 %. Centenary struggled from the free throw line (17-29) for just 58.6 % compared to strong shooting at the line for LeTourneau – 24-32 for 75 %. The Ladies attempted only six 3-point baskets, making one, while the YellowJackets finished 5-12 for 41.7 %. Each team grabbed 44 rebounds, with the Ladies pulling down 25 on the defensive end and 19 on the offensive end compared to 28 defensive rebounds for LeTourneau and 16 offensive boards.

LeTourneau held a slight edge, 14-11, after the first quarter but the Ladies responded with a strong second period, outscoring the YellowJackets 15-6 to take a 26-20 lead at the break. LeTourneau took the third quarter 16-12 to cut its deficit to 38-36 entering the final 10 minutes. The YellowJackets then finished with a 17-15 advantage in the fourth quarter to match the Ladies at 53-53 and force overtime.

Senior F Jazzmyn Jones (Normangee, Texas) led the Ladies with a game-high 17 points in 25 impressive minutes off the bench. She was 6-17 from the floor with seven rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Sophomore G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) started and joined her in double figures as she scored 12 in 29 productive minutes. Drumgo was 5-11 from the field with five rebounds and one steal.

Freshman G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) scored eight points in 26 minutes off the bench as she shot 2-5 overall and made 4-5 attempts from the free throw line Barrow grabbed three rebounds and added an assist. Freshman G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) scored seven in 35 minutes, making 2-6 shots from the floor, made 1-3 shots from beyond the arc, and was 2-2 from the free throw line. She had an assist, a rebound, and a steal. Freshman G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) and freshman G Lauren Castillo (Keller, Texas) each scored four, senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) added three with six rebounds and a steal, and freshman F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) scored two with an assist.

Freshman G Brailey Major (Opelousas, La.) only scored one point but she was a force on the boards as she grabbed a team-best eight rebounds, six on the defensive end, and had two steals in 25 minutes. freshman G Olivia Sepulvado (Zwolle, La.) was held scoreless but was very active in her 16 minutes off the bench as she tallied three assists, two rebounds, and a steal.

Four LeTourneau players reached double figures, led by 16 apiece from Alyssa Hall and Johnai Wilmbleduff while Ajane Thomas and Bailey Broughton each scored 12. Hall added a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.
