Ladies' Season Concludes With 81-47 Loss At Colorado College

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Centenary women's basketball team finished its 2022-23 season with an 81-47 loss to the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Reid Arena.

The Ladies finish their season at 3-22 overall and 3-13 in SCAC play. The Tigers improved to 18-7 and 14-2 in league play and earned the No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinals of the upcoming SCAC Championship in San Antonio. The Tigers improved to 11-1 at home this season and swept the season series over the Ladies following an 85-51 last month at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies shot 21.7 % (15-69) from the floor, 17.4 % (4-23) from beyond the arc, and a solid 13-17 (76.5 %) from the free throw line. The Tigers finished at 41.1 % (30-73) from the field, 29.6 % (8-27) from the 3-point line, and 68.4 % (13-19) from the FT line. The Tigers grabbed a whopping 60 rebounds to 40 for the Ladies and forced 16 Centenary turnovers. Colorado College turned the ball over 15 times and the team combined for 30 fouls – 17 by the Ladies and 13 by the Tigers.

The Tigers made a living inside, scoring 44 points in the paint to 18 for the Ladies, finished with a 16-12 edge in second-chance points, and had 16 fast break points to seven for Centenary. The Tigers scored 16 points off of turnovers while the Ladies scored nine, and each teams' bench was productive as the Tigers' reserves scored 46 points and the Ladies' contributed 29.

Freshman G Olivia Sepulvado (Zwolle, La.) scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Ladies. She reached double figures for the third time this season and nearly matched her season high of 16 that she scored against Schreiner on Dec. 4. Sepulvado was 5-8 overall, 3-3 from the FT line, and hit one trey in 29 minutes off the bench. She grabbed five rebounds with two steals, an assist, and a block.

Sophomore G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) joined her in double figures with 12. She reached double figures for the 12th time this season and did so in seven of her last eight games. She played 20 minutes off the bench and had two rebounds, a blocked shot, and a steal and finished 4-4 at the FT line. Freshman G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) added eight points in 16 minutes on 3-5 shooting and was 2-2 from beyond the arc with a pair of rebounds. Sophomore G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.) had six points and a game-high 10 rebounds with two steals in her 33 minutes. She was 3-6 at the FT line and hit one trey.

Freshman F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) chipped in four points and grabbed five rebounds in 24 minutes on 2-8 shooting with an assist, a blocked shot, and a steal. Freshman G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) had three points and one assist in12 minutes and freshman G Jillian Peacock (West Monroe, La.) was held scoreless but she grabbed four rebounds and added two assists and two steals in 11 minutes.

Zoe Tomlinson led the way for the Tigers with a game-high tying 14 points and 10 rebounds with three steals and a blocked shot in 17 minutes off the bench. She was 5-8 overall and 4-5 at the free throw line. Tedy Reed (12) and Healey Bledsoe (11) joined her in double figures. The Tigers had 13 players score of the 17 that played. Talia Cloud, Anna Fanelli, and Audrey Bayston all each scored seven or more points.

The Tigers took a 21-7 lead after one quarter, then outscored the Ladies 25-12 for a 46-19 halftime lead. The Tigers finished with a 21-11 advantage in the third period and then the Ladies outscored the Tigers 17-14 in the fourth.
