Shreveport– The Centenary women's basketball team fell 100-42 to the Trinity University Tigers on Friday evening in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies fell to 0-10 overall and 0-1 in SCAC play while Trinity remained unbeaten at 8-0 and 1-0 in SCAC play. Centenary fell behind 41-24 at the half and the Maroon and White were then outscored 59-18 in the second half as Trinity cruised to the win.

Trinity led 16-9 after the first quarter, outscored the Ladies 15-15 in the second period, 32-13 in the third, and finished with a decisive 27-5 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Ladies shot 34.6 % (18-52) from the floor for the game, finished 6-14 at the free throw line for 42.9 % and did not make a 3-point basket, going 0-7. The Tigers finished 39 % as they attempted an astounding 100 shots in the game (39-100). The Tigers finished 31.8 % (14-44) from 3-point range and 8-15 at the free throw line for 53.3 %.

Trinity finished with a 63-47 edge in rebounding and forced Centenary into a season-high tying 35 turnovers. The Tigers took good care of the ball, committing just 12 turnovers and finished with 28 assists, 15 steals, and blocked two shots. The Ladies had six steals, five steals and did not block a shot.

The Tigers racked up 40 points in the paint to the Ladies' 26. Trinity finished with 42 points off of the Ladies' 35 TO's and Centenary turned Trinity's 12 turnovers into 11 points. Trinity finished with a 23-6 edge in second-chance points and 30-10 in fast break points. The Tigers received 42 points from their bench and the Ladies' bench contributed 22.

Sophomore G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) led the Ladies with 13 points off the bench and was the only Centenary player to reach double figures. She finished 6-11 from the floor in 26 minutes with six rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Freshman G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) added eight points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 21 minutes on 4-7 shooting.

Freshman G Brailey Major (Opelousas, La.) scored six and Sophomore G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.) added five. Major was 2-6 overall and 2-3 at the free throw line in 30 minutes with seven rebounds. Jones grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in 34 minutes with three steals and an assist.

Freshman G Keyonna Armelin (New Iberia, La.) came off the bench and scored four points in 16 minutes with a rebound and a steal. Senior G Patience Bates (Houston, Texas) scored three in eight minutes off the bench, freshman G Olivia Sepulvado (Zwolle, La.) had two points with four rebounds and an assist in 15 minutes, and freshman G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) had one point and one rebound.

Senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.), freshman G Lauren Castillo (Keller, Texas), and sophomore G Cairah Green (Zachary, La.) all played but did not score. Bagwell grabbed a pair of rebounds with an assist in 14 minutes before leaving with an injury.

Trinity played 15 players with 14 of them scoring, including four in double figures. Ashlyn Milton led all scorers with 24 points on 10-21 shooting in 20 minutes and was 4-9 from beyond the arc. Milton registered a double-double with 10 rebounds and swiped a game-high six steals with three assists. Three Tigers – Josie Napoli, Maggie Robbins, and Bailey Timmons each scored 12 points. Addie Putnam scored seven, A'Nika Saenz added six, and Jennifer Tierney and Skye O'Rourke each chipped in five. Natalie Anderson, Elaine King, and Maddie Mueller all scored four and Claire Hale had three.

The Ladies will face Schreiner (4-5, 1-0 SCAC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the weekend. The Mountaineers began conference play on Friday with a 61-50 win over St. Thomas in Houston.
