Shreveport- The Centenary women's soccer team recorded its second-straight scoreless tie on the weekend on Sunday afternoon as the Ladies and Millsaps College settled for a draw in a non-conference contest at Mayo Field.
The Ladies (1-4-2) also finished in a 0-0 tie on Friday at home against Birmingham-Southern College. The Majors are now 1-4-1 after their first tie of the season. Sunday was the 12th all-time between the two schools, a series in which Centenary leads 9-2-1.
Centenary finished a season-high 17 shots, four more than its previous season-best 13 on Friday against BSC, but could not find the bet. The Ladies also took a season-high seven corner kicks including four in the final seven minutes of the match. Both goalkeepers - junior GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) and the Majors' Emily Lozano played all 90 minutes and each recorded four saves.
Ersoff, who now owns four shutouts in her career, recorded 14 saves in the three matches for the Ladies this past week, covering 270 consecutive scoreless minutes. The Ladies blanked Belhaven 1-0 on Tuesday prior to the two scoreless ties over the weekend. Centenary's three-straight shutouts are the most in a row since recording five in a row in the 2020 season a single season in program history in the division III (2011-present) era. The three shutouts are the eighth-most in a single season by a Ladies' team in the D3 era and Ersoff's three are tied for the fifth-most in a single season by a goalkeeper in the D3 era.
The Ladies will now hit the road for three-straight matches as they face McMurry University on Friday, Sept. 22, Howard Payne University (Sept. 23), and finally LeTourneau University on Sept. 26.
