Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought battle by a score of 1-0 to the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at Mayo Field.

The Ladies (1-7-2, 0-1 SCAC) and Bulldogs (5-3-3, 1-0 SCAC) played to a scoreless first half and then TLU's Klarissa Martinez was fouled inside the box and converted a penalty kick in the 52nd minute, her fifth goal of the season.

The Bulldogs dominated the match statistically, finishing with a 27-1 advantage in shots and took 14 shots on goal. Centenary junior GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) made a career-high 13 saves in her 90 minutes. Those 13 saves are tied for the sixth-most in the division III era (2011-present). Ersoff, who entered the match ranked second in the conference in saves, increased her season total to 72 and eclipsed her previous single-match record of 11 set against Texas-Dallas on Sept. 8.

TLU goalkeeper Alysa Marquez also went the distance and made one save. The Bulldogs took seven corner kicks to one for the Ladies and 15 fouls were whistled in the match, nine on the Ladies and six on the Bulldogs.

The Ladies wrap up their weekend with another SCAC contest against Southwestern University on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Noon.
