Longview, Texas- The Centenary women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets on Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest at the LETU Soccer Field inside the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
The Ladies (1-6-2) fell to 5-7 all-time against LeTourneau (5-1-2) who ran its winning streak to five games, all shutouts. Centenary fell to 0-5 away from home this season as the Maroon and White are 0-3 in true road contests and 0-2 in neutral-site matches.
Jordan Williams scored both of the goals for LeTourneau, finding the net in the 15th minute and again in the 25th minute. The YellowJackets played a pair of goalkeepers as Kelauna Cruz and Abbey Gallant each played 45 minutes with Cruz recording LeTourneau's lone save.
Centenary junior GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) went the distance and recorded eight saves. She made five+ saves in a match for the seventh time this season. Ersoff entered Tuesday's match ranked second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in saves (51) and fourth in goals against average (GAA) – 1.13. Ersoff, named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18, has recorded three shutouts this season.
The Ladies will now play three-straight home matches from Sept. 30-Oct. 8. Centenary faces the University of Arkansas – Cossatot in an exhibition match on Saturday and then open conference play on Friday, Oct. 6 against Texas Lutheran University.
