Shreveport– The Centenary volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to the Southwestern University Pirates on Saturday as the Ladies wrapped up play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference crossover at the Gold Dome.
The Ladies (10-12, 1-4 SCAC) split a pair of matches on Friday, defeating Schreiner 3-1 and falling to Trinity, 3-0, to finish 1-2 for the weekend. Southwestern improved to 15-1 and 6-1 in SCAC play with Saturday's win. Centenary entered the weekend a perfect 5-0 at home this season and the Maroon and White are still an impressive 6-2 after Saturday's play.
Southwestern took set one by a score of 25-15 and then edged the Ladies in a close set two, 25-23, before clinching the match in set three, 25-12. Centenary finished the match with 41 digs, 26 kills, and 26 assists.
Senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) posted 16 assists and eight digs, sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) had a team-high 12 digs with an assist, and senior OH Alyssa Davis (Leonard, Texas) posted eight digs and seven kills. Sophomore MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) tallied five kills, three digs, and an assist. Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) finished with seven kills and three digs.
The Ladies are on the road next weekend for another SCAC Divisional in Sherman, Texas and hosted by Austin College. Centenary will play a pair of matches each on Friday and Saturday, beginning with a 1 p.m. match against Texas Lutheran on Friday. The Ladies then face Colorado College at 5 p.m. and on Saturday the Maroon and White square off against St. Thomas at 10 a.m. and the host Austin College 'Roos at 2 p.m.
