Ladies Sweep Dallas Christian College on Senior Night

Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team put an exclamation point on an impressive home season on Wednesday evening as the Ladies swept the Dallas Christian College Crusaders in a non-conference match on Senior Night at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (15-18) finished 9-2 at home this season with an impressive eight sweeps and extended their winning streak to four with Wednesday's victory. Centenary improved to 2-0 this season versus the Crusaders after previously defeating them 3-1 on Sept. 24 in Dallas. The Ladies took the first set on Wednesday 25-11, won set two 25-18, and clinched the match in set three with a 25-15 score. The Crusader's fell to 12-10 with the loss while the Ladies improved to 13-8 against non-conference competition this season.

Centenary recorded 51 digs, 35 kills, 34 assists, and seven aces and finished with an average hitting percentage of .209 for the evening. The Ladies' best hitting percentage was .276 in the third set as they recorded 11 kills and just three errors in 29 total attacks.

Sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) led the Ladies with 14 digs and senior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) had a tremendous match on her Senior Night as she recorded a team-high eight kills and added two digs, one assist, and also tallied a team-best three aces. Fellow senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) registered a team-high 33 assists and added nine digs. Sophomore DS/L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, La.) added four digs and an ace.

Sophomore MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had seven kills and six digs and senior OH Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) had six kills and four digs, and freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had another solid match with six digs and six kills. Freshman RS Aubrey Salazar (San Antonio, Texas) had four kills and a dig and fellow freshman Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) had three kills and a dig. Junior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) tallied three digs and matched Epley with three aces.

The Ladies honored six seniors prior to Wednesday's match: Clarin-Jante, Epley, Kelley, former player and current student assistant Annalee Mathews, and a pair of standouts who are injured for the remainder of the season in Alyssa Davis (Leonard, Texas) and Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.).

Centenary will finish its regular season this weekend as the Ladies return to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with two matches scheduled for Saturday and two on Sunday in Seguin, Texas hosted by Texas Lutheran University.

The Ladies, currently 2-10 in SCAC play, will face St. Thomas at 1 p.m. on Saturday and host TLU at 5 p.m. Centenary will play Colorado College on Sunday at Noon and Dallas at 2 p.m.
