Ladies Sweep Mississippi University for Women In Home Doubleheader

Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team recorded a doubleheader sweep over the Mississippi University for Women Owls on Saturday afternoon at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (14-18) improved to an impressive 8-2 at home this season which includes a remarkable seven sweeps. The Owls dropped to 1-15 on the season and the Ladies now lead the all-time series 6-0.

Centenary swept the Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs, 3-0, on Wednesday evening in a non-conference match on the road as the Maroon and White improved to a perfect 3-0 against the Bulldogs this season. The Ladies are 12-8 against non-conference competition this season.

The Ladies won the first match by scores of 25-17/25-16/25-17 and then took the second match, 25-13, 25-20, and 25-19. Centenary recorded 43 digs, 41 kills, 38 assists, and 10 aces in the first match and 53 digs, 43 kills 41 assists, and seven aces in the second match.

Senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, Texas) tallied 57 assists for the day with 17 digs, seven aces and six kills. Sophomore DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) recorded 20 digs, four aces, and an assist. Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) posted 11 kills, six digs, an ace, and an assist. Sophomore MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) tallied 11 digs, 8 kills, and an assist.

Freshman OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) finished the day with eight digs, eight kills, senior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) posted 12 kills and a dig and sophomore S Regan Griffin (Arlington, Texas) had a big day with 17 assists and a kill. Senior OH Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) added eight kills, and a pair of digs. Freshman RS Aubrey Salazar (San Antonio, Texas) had an impressive day with 16 kills and two digs. Sophomore DS/L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, La.) tallied 20 digs, an ace, and an assist.

A pair of rookies, MB/OH McKayla Merrow (Shreveport) and Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) combined for seven kills and two digs. Freshman Alex McQuat (Lafayette, La.) posted five kills, four digs, an ace, and an assist.

The Ladies will face Dallas Christian College on Wednesday, Oct. 27 for their annual Senior Night match set for 6 p.m.
