Shreveport – The Centenary baseball team will face the Louisiana College Wildcats in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday with game one scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. first pitch at Shehee Stadium with game two set for approximately 2:30 p.m.

The Gents (3-0) picked up three wins last weekend over the East Texas Baptist University Tigers, defeating them 5-3 in Marshall last Friday and sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday at home by scores of 7-0 in seven innings and 12-5. Centenary was the only Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference team to make it through the first week unscathed as the Maroon and White sit alone atop the SCAC standings after the first weekend of play. Louisiana College enters Saturday's action at 2-1 overall.

The Gents swept the SCAC Baseball individual awards on Monday as senior outfielder Cody Crowder (Shepherd, Texas) and senior right-handed pitcher Matthew Devillier (Lake Charles, La.) were named the SCAC Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for games played from Saturday, February 1 through Sunday, February 9.

Crowder led the Gents to three wins over the weekend to open the season as he batted .400 (4-10) with three home runs, six RBI, six runs scored, and three walks. He hit two home runs in the 12-5 victory over the ETBU in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday. Crowder also homered in Friday's season opener.

Devillier was superb in his season debut for the Gents as he tossed a complete-game shutout against the Tigers on Saturday. Devillier went seven innings and allowed just one hit with two walks and four strikeouts. He threw 85 pitches, 56 for strikes, and faced just 25 batters in his seven innings of work.
